    Here at Compete we are looking for someone who enjoys coding for a living, who can learn to enjoy the massage chair we have in the office and who is TRULY passionate about web development. We love it and live it and want you to feel the same way. And if you have that special fondness for Python like we do, definitely apply for this job.

    Here's a little bit about us, and what we are looking for: Compete, Inc. is an intelligent market research company and Compete.com, its crown jewel web application, currently gets over 1M unique visitors per month and is growing by leaps and bounds. The Web Development team, which we'd like you to be a part of, consists of a handful of stellar (and fun!) engineers, and we are looking to add someone ready to play a critical role in expanding Compete.com's products. We want someone who loves creating stuff, and is passionate about the web. Here are some of the things we’re looking for:

        * LAMP programming skills. Our "P" is Python. Your job will involve a lot of Python, so you probably ought to love it, or be ready to learn to love it.
        * Do you work with Django? We have a pretty strong love for Django, as well.
        * Front-end (HTML/CSS/JavaScript) skills are also a must. We do like our web applications to look pretty, too.
        * A strong understanding of best practices for building and maintaining software on a team. You take pride in the code you write, and you hate copy-n-paste.
        * We run a Scrum shop here – so fast-paced = good!

    Now, while we feel pretty strongly about the requirements above, here are some things we don't necessarily care about:

        * There's no specific minimum number of years of professional experience required. While we'd prefer someone with a few years of real-world experience (see comment above about best practices for maintaining code), if you've been building web apps in your spare time since the 4th grade, that probably counts as experience too.
        * Your education. Just about anybody can get a college degree.
        * Every technology you've used since your mom put a keyboard in front of you (Cobol and VB6 anyone?)
