SRDS Launches Tablet Media Library to Optimize Identification of Advertising Opportunities in Magazine and Newspaper Media Apps

Des Plaines, IL, November 1, 2010 – SRDS, a Kantar Media company, has launched the Tablet Media Library to help media planners and buyers who use the SRDS online services easily identify advertising opportunities in magazine and newspaper tablet apps.

The Tablet Media Library (www.srds.com/tablet-media-library) contains separate sections for consumer magazine media, b-to-b apps and newspaper apps. At launch, more than 160 tablet media properties will be identified and listed. SRDS will add apps to the library regularly to ensure it is current with the rapidly expanding app market.

According to SRDS, analysts forecast that 28-45 million more iPads will be sold in 2011 and with new tablet devices coming to market in the next few months, there will be significantly expanding ad opportunities that media buyers need to consider. Based upon estimates from Millennial Media (1), iPad advertising grew 94% in Q3 2010. Additionally, Rhythm New Media (2) reports that click-through rates are higher on iPad ads than on web or mobile ads.

"There’s a lot of industry research on how iPad users interact with their devices and the advertising in apps. iPad users are receptive to ads, engaging with them and making purchases. We wanted to make it easy for media buyers using SRDS to include this dynamic medium in their plans." said Trish Delaurier, SRDS VP of Information Sales & Service.

The Tablet Media Library will also enable media companies with tablet applications to promote their apps to SRDS users through the Essential Tablet Solution platform. Media titles can highlight their apps through the platform and include promotional data about their app in their primary SRDS listings.

"Advertisers are paying premiums to reach the highly-engaged and influential audience of tablet users," said Joseph Hayes, SRDS VP & Publisher. "Media companies definitely want to promote their tablet apps to our agency subscribers as the scale of this market continues to expand."

"Promoting the all-new AutoWeek iPad app in SRDS, where planners are building their campaigns, just makes sense," said Dutch Mandel, AutoWeek Associate Publisher and Editorial Director. "We need media planners to understand what we’re doing with our app and how it can benefit their clients. We're delivering dynamic content and advertising that will make our audience better connected to the AutoWeek brand – and our advertisers' brands, and we want them to be part of it."

Media companies can check to see if their tablet apps are included in the SRDS Tablet Media Library by visiting www.srds.com/tablet-media-library To list an app on any of the 3 pages, please contact Joseph Hayes at (646) 895-8421 or [email protected].
